The landscapes of Istria are mesmerising: villages sitting in rolling, green countryside provide a respite from today’s busy life and will recharge jaded batteries. Istria is the perfect place to take some incredible photos, so bring your camera and join us on this day trip!
During our journey we will visit the old, hilltop town of Motovun, often mysteriously appearing to be adrift in the clouds themselves. With its thousand year history, Motovun is host to an annual International Film Festival and is famous for that most supreme of delicacies – truffles. Following a tasting of some of the local truffle receipes, we will leave the town and drive to Pula. Here, besides the grand amphitheatre – a relic of the Roman Empire we’ll also visit the Forum, the Temple of Augustus, the triumphal Arch of the Sergii, and that pearl of XVII century architecture –the Kastel fortress.
Later, we will invite you to indulge in local specialities in one of the traditional restaurants, and sample some of their home-produced wine.
The last stop on our journey is the town of Poreč. There, inside the ancient castrum, itself dating from 2nd century BC, we will visit the 6th century Euphrasian Basilica, one of UNESCO’s most precious examples of church architecture in the whole of Europe.
