Krk Tour
Omišalj, the Franciscan island of Košljun with its 30,000-volume library, Krk town and Vrbnik for Žlahtina wine.

Located in the Adriatic Sea, Krk is the second largest island in Croatia. Its diverse coastal relief, pristine beaches and small havens, immediately apparent on crossing the bridge to the island, offer idyllic romantic hideaways. Krk also has a rich and varied wildlife, from bears and deer to vultures and lizards.
Our first stop is prehistoric Omišalj, a small town on an 85 m cliff, with a stunning view over Kvarner Bay. We then go to Punat, from where a boat transfers us to the small, round islet of Košljun, home to Franciscan monks. Over hundreds of years they have collected and preserved many precious objects. Their library today holds over 30,000 pieces, among which you will find Ptolemy's atlas, printed in Venice in 1511.
From Košljun our road takes us to the island's capital of Krk. Let your imagination roam and you will be taken back in time, to when Krk evolved from a pagan settlement into a Christian centre and the Roman thermae was transformed into a cathedral.
We end our trip in historically important Vrbnik, the former seat of one of the two aristocratic families that ruled the island. Here we rest and enjoy a snack in a local restaurant, and savour Žlahtina, a very special locally produced white wine.
